service

This month, we’re focusing on how each of us can live a life of service—offering our time, talents, and treasures for God’s glory and the good of others. Whether through a kind word, a practical task, or generous giving, each act of service reflects the heart of Christ.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

Let’s be prayerful and intentional about how we’re investing what God has entrusted to us.

Gateway in action

This month, we’re inviting everyone at Gateway to step in and serve. Whether you have an hour or a weekend, there are plenty of ways to use your time, talents, and energy to bless others and build up the church.

From behind-the-scenes roles to hands-on ministry, August is full of opportunities to get involved. Explore where God might be calling you to serve—and take that next step.

  • Each year in August, we host a Community Clothing Giveaway to bless families as they prepare for the new school year. This event provides free, gently-used clothing to anyone in need—organized and sorted so it’s easy to find exactly what you're looking for.

Clothing donations come from our church family and the surrounding community, making it a true team effort.

There are many ways to get involved:

    • Donate gently-used clothes

    • Help sort and organize donations

    • Serve on the day of the event

    • Spread the word by inviting friends to donate or attend

Our goal is simple: to be a blessing to as many people as possible. Join us in making a difference this back-to-school season.

  • We partner with the Red Cross to host a Blood Drive once a month on a Monday, providing an easy way for our community to give the gift of life. Each donation can help save up to three lives, making a real impact for patients in hospitals, trauma centers, and emergency situations.

Whether you're a regular donor or it's your first time, your participation matters. Giving blood is a simple act of generosity that meets a critical and ongoing need.

  • A few times each year, we host a Ministry Fair in the church lobby—a great opportunity to explore the many ways to get involved at Gateway. From kids and youth ministries to hospitality, worship, outreach, and more, the fair showcases all the places where you can serve, grow, and connect.

Whether you’re new to Gateway or have been attending for years, the Ministry Fair is a simple way to discover where your gifts and passions can make a difference.

Stop by, ask questions, and find your place to serve! Mark your calendar for August 24th!

  • Four times a year, we partner with Family Promise to host families experiencing homelessness for a week at a time. During these weeks, our church becomes a place of rest, safety, and care for those in need.

We rely on volunteers to help make this ministry possible—preparing and serving meals, staying overnight at the church, offering encouragement, and supporting these families through prayer and giving.

This is a powerful way to live out the love of Christ and care for our neighbors in a tangible way. If you'd like to get involved or learn more, reach out to the church office.

  • At Gateway, we believe kids aren’t just the future of the church—they’re a vital part of it right now. Kids Church meets during both the 9 AM and 11 AM services every Sunday, providing a fun, Christ-centered environment where children can grow in their understanding of God’s love.

Serving in Kids Church is an incredible way to plant seeds of faith that can last a lifetime.

During the school year, kids also gather on Tuesday evenings for Club W—a midweek ministry filled with Bible exploration, fun activities, and friendships that make them excited to come back week after week.

  • Middle school and high school students meet every Wednesday night year-round for Youth Group—a time to worship, study Scripture, and encourage each other in their walk with the Lord. It's a space where students can be real, ask questions, and grow in their faith together.

During the school year, students also gather on Sunday nights for small groups, which offer a chance to go deeper, build strong relationships, and share life alongside trusted leaders and peers.

Students also have the opportunity to attend summer and winter camps, which often become spiritual milestones. These retreats create space for students to encounter God in a powerful way, free from distractions and surrounded by community.

Leaders play a vital role in all of this—walking alongside students, pointing them to Christ, and showing up with consistency and care. If you’re looking for a way to invest in the next generation, this is a place where your presence can truly make a difference.

Memorizing Scripture

All year long, we’ve focused on memorizing Scripture—hiding God’s Word in our hearts so it can shape our lives from the inside out. This month, we’re turning that inward focus outward by letting the truth we’ve stored up move us to serve generously.

As we reflect on passages we’ve memorized, let them stir us to action—giving our time, using our gifts, and sharing our resources with a joyful heart.

“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” – James 1:22

Let God’s Word not just dwell in you—but work through you.

Prayer

At Gateway, we believe that prayer is essential in seeking God's guidance and direction for our lives.

  • As part of our commitment to prayer, we send out an almost weekly Prayer Update that includes requests from our ministry leaders and missionaries. This update provides an opportunity to join in prayer for upcoming events, celebrate the ways God has answered prayers, and lift up specific needs for our leaders and missionaries.

Our pastors and leaders are dedicated to seeking the Lord's guidance each day, and they deeply value your prayers for them as they serve.

To receive the Prayer Update, simply contact the church office by phone or email. You can also create a Realm account, which will not only give you access to the Prayer Update but also allow you to join the Prayer Update group, view church events, register for activities, and manage your volunteer opportunities.

  • In addition to the Prayer Update, Gateway offers the PrayerLine, where you can find occasional prayer requests from our church family and Oikos. This is a wonderful way to support one another in prayer and witness how God is moving in the lives of those in our congregation.

To join the PrayerLine email group, please contact the church office.

Join a grow group

Grow Groups are a vital part of life at Gateway. While our worship services provide an incredible opportunity to come together and praise God, they’re often too large to foster close, personal connections. That’s why we believe everyone at Gateway needs a smaller community—a group of faithful friends who love the Lord, can encourage one another, and pray for our oikos—those God has placed in our lives to reach with His love. Our goal is to help every person find a Grow Group where they can build meaningful, lasting relationships, strengthen their faith, and support each other!
